I looked at the Dove commercials. These tackle beauty and the ways in which media has contorted our perceptions. It asks women to become role models for young girls and help them feel beautiful in their own skin. I also looked at the seventeen project. It contains blog posts from readers who are tired of the one track focus of beauty magazines. Their posts ask magazine companies to expand their product to meet more women's needs.

I think these are both really powerful. They are actually acting, not just suggesting an action. Which is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the dove campaign commercials. It really goes along well with what we have been discussing all semester about this very restricted idea of beauty. All of these girls and women are just smothered with these images of beauty that are simply unrealistic. And unfortunately, I feel that women really suffer the effects of seeing this type of unreachable beauty.
ReplyDeleteI loved your presentation of the dove commercials. They really have strong points and i think what Dove is trying to do with our perception of beauty is pretty cool. They are trying to make beauty not so commercialized and narrow minded. Great Choice!!
