June 14 assignment

"The Revolt of Mother"- The passage that stood to me the most was the part when the mother was talking to Nanny Penn and said "You ain't seen enough of men-folk yet to. One of these days you'll find it out, an' then you"ll know that we know only what men-folk thinks we do, so far as any use of it goes, an' how we'd ought to reckon men-folks in with Providence, an' not complain of what they do any more than we do of the weather." This caught my attention because it goes along with the whole women having no power and how women do everything for men. The mother is basically saying that women know only what men want them to know and not to complain.

"Trifles"- This quote stood out to me because of the imagery of women compared to a bird, “She-come to think of it- she was kind of like a bird herself.” The women in this story are talk of as being small and delicate like flowers and birds. This relates back to the images we found in class with women being fragile and delicate.

“As Children Together”- This poem was very depressing, but also showed some light of hope for the lady. The story is depressing by all of the detail that is said about the lady’s house and how she used her body and sex to try to escape. However, the part that stood out to me in this poem was when it says, “I always believed this, Victoria, that there might be a way to get out.” It shows the light of hope and makes the poem a little happier.
