June 14th

The revolt of "Mother"
The quote that stood out to me the most in the story was, "Adoniram was like a fortress whose walls had no active resistance, and went down the instant the right besieging tools were used." After beginning the story irritated that her husband would not include her in any of the plans for a new barn, I began to feel happy that she was finally standing up to him. I felt sorry for her throughout the story because her husband didn't even come to her with the idea in the first place, as if he did not, and should not need her input. I was glad with the outcome, and found it kind of funny the way she approached her decision.
Trifles
The quote that caught my attention was, "She was rocking back and forth. She had her apron in her hand and was kind of pleating it." To me, this shows Mrs. Wright's nervousness, the way she was fidgeting with her apron made it seem like she was very uneasy. The thing I liked the most about this story though, was the way the men kind of poked fun at the women for talking about such petty things like quilting, but in the end, they found out much more about what had happened then the sheriff and coroner who were doing all the investigating did. I also thought the last line of the story was pretty witty, I liked how she got back at him for the way that he had mocked her.
As Children Together
The line that stood out to me the most was, "Your mirror grew ringed with photos of servicemen who had taken your breasts in their hands" Up until this point I wasn't exactly sure what this text was about, but this line, and the paragraph that followed, showed how she was using herself and her body, to escape. This story had a very depressing tone to it, and I really felt sorry for the girl in it, it seemed that she wished she could have her childhood back instead of the place she was at now.
